new urban ecology resources
I've added a couple of new items to the Urban Ecology Resources link list on the sidebar. One is a link to the WildMetro web site. Started in New York City but hoping to expand, the stated goal is to "define appropriate goals for metropolitan nature protection, and use a variety of common sense methods to achieve those goals." As pilot research projects, they have utilized graduate students and volunteers to do standardized bird, mammal, insect, and herp studies.
The other is the Acoustic Ecology Institute's web page on the wildlands issue of biological effects of noise on wildlife. It includes links to interesting resources, such as a literature review and a bibliography on the impacts of seismic projects on the environment.
Light posting over the holiday weekend. Any bizarre formatting issues are due to Typepad doing maintenance this weekend. Bear with them.
